Certification will be a joint certification by Operation Pure Water and our independent internationally recognized certification organization.
We are a Colorado non-profit with a 501(c)(3) designation pending. As a 501 organization in the United States, we will be granted tax-exempt status. This will facility funding by outside organizations to support our operating costs. Additionally, a for-profit company would affect our credibility as a neutral third party by both bottled water companies and their consumers. Note requirements for 501 are to support the public good and specifically for us; 1) educational and 2) public safety testing which we meet.
No, we do not have any relationship with bottled water and beverage companies, regulators, or with environmental groups and our auditing, sampling and analysis will be through companies that also do not have any conflict of interest with the above.
We are focused on bottled water and beverages because they are currently not regulated for PFAS and Microplastics and are in a marketplace where their customers have real concerns about these contaminants and their presence in these products.
Spring Water, Mineral Water, Purified Water, Artesian Water, and Well Water
Bottled water is already regulated by FDA for other contaminant s, but to date, FDA has only done preliminary testing on these contaminants and his susceptible to political considerations.
Yes, we believe donations will be attractive for those individuals or groups that advocate for continued consumer safety.
In some cases, a single certification will cover the whole company and in other cases specific products or facilities may require individual certifications.
Consumer concern about these contaminants is high as represented by numerous litigations across the country. Therefore, being proactive can minimize the risk of litigation. Additionally, the bottled water and beverage marketplace is highly competitive, and some companies are already making non-certified or vague claims as to PFAS and Microplastic presence in their products. In many cases these non-certified claims are misleading consumers that their products have the purity necessary to protect their health.
Additionally, tap water filtration companies are actively marketing the benefits of their home filtration systems that are more protective on PFAS and Microplastics than bottled water.
Yes, there could be, however with bottled water and beverage companies’ participation and our approach and messaging, we believe we will become the definitive and trusted resource for consumers.
